Pinot Noir is a beautifully elaborate and exciting grape variety, thanks to its natural ability to adapt and evolve to the region and site, resulting in many detailed and distinct varietal clones over time. Each varying in taste, character and quality. From bold and robust, to medium and earthy, to light and floral. 

Given this spectrum and our individual palates and preferences, there is no one clone that outdoes the rest… or is there? 

In the true style of Glenarty, we decided to dig a little deeper. So in 2018 we took the chance and grafted five different clones of Pinot, with the idea of making our iconic blended Wildlings Pinot Noir, along with five individual clonal wines. To explore the characteristics of this amazing variety and the potential of Pinot in southern Margaret River.

each clone was hand-picked over two days. small batches were wild-fermented and made with an artisanal approach. simply using hand plunging and relying upon gravity for wine movement. to gently craft each wine in an identical style to reveal the different clonal traits and varietal expressions.
