The paddocks carry the working rhythm of Glenarty Road. Sheep and pigs graze pasture, cycle fertility and connect the vineyard to the wider farm.
The flock returns to the vineyard.
Sheep farming runs deep in the history of Glenarty Road. Today our Sheepmaster flock continues that tradition while taking on a role within the vineyard.
Through the cooler months, sheep graze between the rows, manage cover crops, leaf-pluck at the appropriate time and return nutrients to the soil.
Movement, recovery and return.
Through cell grazing, animals manage vegetation, prepare ground, cycle nitrogen and build fertility, while also providing grass-fed meat for the farmhouse table. Different species move through the paddocks in sequence, each doing different work before the pasture is rested, allowing leaf and root systems to recover. Trees and shelter protect the animals and add another layer of life to the farm.

Short, purposeful grazing is followed by a longer period of rest, allowing pasture and root systems to rebuild.
