Fathoms began in 2019 with a conversation among friends and a story that would not let go: bottles recovered from the hulls of sunken ships, transformed by years beneath the water.
What might the ebb and flow of the seabed off Augusta bring to a wine grown in Karridale? Fathoms Cuvée became our exploration of that relationship between ancient soils, cool-climate fruit and the waterways that shape our southern landscape.

Expert divers lower each bottle into Flinders Bay, where it rests in the darkness and movement of the Southern Ocean. The rhythm of the currents keeps the wine in gentle motion, working with the lees to build layers of texture and complexity.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are grown on our farm in Karridale, carrying the freshness and natural tension of southern Margaret River into the base wine.
The bottles are carefully submerged by a team of expert divers and secured on the seabed of Flinders Bay, off Augusta.
Lowered to ten fathoms

After a minimum of two years, each bottle is raised, hand disgorged and carefully packed while preserving the ocean encrustation created during its time below.

White flowers. Lemon curd. Sea Spray.
Fathoms is textural and expressive, moving from white flowers, lemon curd and honeysuckle into toasted nuts and a subtle saline edge. A fine bead and creamy texture carry the wine with depth, freshness and length.
