Glenarty Syrah - new wine release + new name!

Glenarty Syrah - new wine release + new name! | Glenarty Road | Margaret River

The new amphora Shiraz...

Red Wine

Our new release 2019 Glenarty Road Syrah is here and it's simply delectable with a new name to suit. You may know and love this wine as Amphora Shiraz.  Our best dry-grown Shiraz grapes which are wild fermented and matured in amphora and French oak.

However, this vintage we have decided to name it Syrah. Why you may ask? Well, the name Syrah refers to the old-world style of 'Shiraz' made in the northern Rhône Valley in France.

It is very different from the traditional Australian Shiraz, from regions like the Barossa in South Australia which we all know and appreciate for their big bold structure and concentrated fruit characters, with earthy notes and extra peppery spice due to the warm climate.

The characteristics of Syrah can range from dense dark fruit with a robust structure to a classic leaner style, which is luscious with floral aromas and delicate spice. Making them approachable at a younger age with amazing cellaring potential, thanks to a backbone of well-structured spice and oak tannin.

So to reflect the elegant style of this wine, the incredible nature of Syrah/Shiraz and the perfect moderate climate of southern Margaret River, we have named this vintage Syrah.

The 2019 vintage is de
ep crimson red in the glass, with the most alluring aromas of blackberry and savoury spice, lifted by violets. The plate has dense layers of luscious dark fruits and a powerful structure backed by superfine tannins. It is fresh to bottle but it is looking bang on, which is why we have released it early than expected. So we invite you to enjoy it now and watch it only get better over the next few months and many years to come.
